KOLJA JOSEPH GIBBS

About me//

I was born in London in 1999 to Australian and German parents and have been playing the classical guitar from the age of seven onwards.

After enrolling in the junior department of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2017 to study with Martin Fogel, I got accepted as a senior student at Trinity Laban a year later to study a Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Professor Graham Anthony Devine.

Since then, I was lucky to be able to perform in venues such as King's Place, Handel/Hendrix House, St. James Piccadilly, Blackheath Halls, Wigmore Hall and the ORNC Chapel in Greenwich both as soloist and chamber musician.

Since 2017, I am very thankful to have been awarded a Trinity College Music scholarship, the Vivian Joseph Prize for Strings, the Historically Informed Performance Competition (1st prize) and the John Thompson String Ensemble Prize together with the Meridian Guitar Quartet, of whom I have been a member since 2018.

I've taken part in performance classes and masterclasses with Carlos Bonell, Allan Neave, Xuefei Yang, Augustin Wiedemann, Paul Galbraith, Alvaro Pierri and Roberto Aussel.
